Rent the Old State House The Old State House has become the gathering place for Greater Hartford. It provides an intimate and memorable setting for your special event. Built in 1796 and completely renovated from 1992 to 1996 the Old State House offers a unique environment and is perfect for small and medium sized events. The Old State House offers two areas for you to choose from. The Court Room, our most spacious and stately room, is where most of our larger events take place. This is where the Court of Connecticut met from1796 to 1878. In the 1920s it was refurbished in the colonial revival style. The Court Room is perfect for any type of event from dinner parties, retirement parties, fundraisers, and press conferences, to corporate or private receptions, meetings, conferences and even small weddings. (Note: We can only accommodate weddings of 100 guests or less.) The holiday season books fast for office parties so book early. Another area of the Old State House available for events is the lush tree lined lawn. The lawn is perfect for outdoor receptions, parties, and fundraisers. Old State House rental fees vary, depending on the space rented and the number of hours the building is used. Event billing time begins at the time caterers or other necessary outside contractors enter the building to begin setting up for the function, and ends once everyone has left the site. There are discounted rates for Corporate Members. These fees are earned income that help the Old State House Association maintain this National Historic Landmark. A packet of information is available including the rules and regulations, a list of preferred caterers, all insurance information and the appropriate contracts. When you select your caterer from our list, you will also be able to choose your rental company for all your other needs. Off site parking is available. The building is handicapped accessible and has a full heating/air conditioning system.
